Dune is a landmark novel published in 1965 and the first in a 6-book saga penned by author Frank Herbert. The Dune series is the subject of several adaptations into film, TV, boardgames and video games - including an upcoming major motion picture slated for release in 2021.
Definitely a 5/5 stars book. Frank Herbert's last novel he wrote before his death in 1986, I consider this to be the third best novel in the Dune series after the Dune and GEoD. One of the best things that can be said for Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune is that they both dive so, so deeply into the Bene Gesserit, who are in general one of the most fascinating groups I have ever read about. They are an incredible mix of philosophical wisdom, metaphysical insight, moral fitness, and pure discipline. As an ending to a series Chapterhouse is generally satisfying but doesn't really serve as a substitute for the sequel Herbert would surely have written if he hadn't passed away the following year. Clearly the book can't be rated lower for circumstances beyond Herbert's control. Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert is a nearly-flawless unexpected conclusion to the Dune series, taking us as deep as possible into the sisterhood of the Bene Gesserit, all while a cosmic game of chess is being played for the fate of the universe.

The Final Verdict. Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert is a nearly-flawless unexpected 2019-01-09 OK Dune fans, this is it, the last Dune book written by Frank Herbert. Originally published in 1985, Chapterhouse Dune left more questions than answers. Frank Herbert died in 1986, leaving a legacy of some of the greatest work in science fiction literature. Macmillan Audio's production of this epic provides a dramatic interpretation of this classic. 2018-05-31 At least until Chapterhouse: Dune, the sixth volume in the series and the last Frank Herbert wrote before his death in 1986.
86 quotes from Chapterhouse: Dune (Dune Chronicles, #6): ‘Seek freedom and become captive of your desires. Seek discipline and find your liberty.’
(There is one important sex scene involving a ten-year-old, but let's just try to ignore that for the purposes of this review.) Chapterhouse: Dune, Frank Herbert, Berkley, 1985, 464 pp. Chapterhouse: Dune continues quite closely after the events of Heretics of Dune, unlike some of the earlier gaps in the series (which have added up to over five thousand years since the original Dune). At least until Chapterhouse: Dune, the sixth volume in the series and the last Frank Herbert wrote before his death in 1986. In my review of Heretics of Dune , I said that a big theme of the series is expanding humanity -- pushing human nature to new heights of abilities and forms from the Guild Navigators, Bene Gesserit, Mentats, Tleilaxu, Face Dancers, Honored Matres, and more. Chapterhouse: Dune debuted at No. 5 and rose to No. 2 on The New York Times Best Seller list. Gerald Jonas of The New York Times noted that "Against all odds, the universe of Dune keeps getting richer in texture, more challenging in its moral dilemmas." Dune, and is supported by the fact that Beverly died shortly before and Frank shortly after "Chapterhouse: Dune" was published, and of course the touching dedication and afterword.
